Career Fair

The Recording Industry Career Fair is a signature event held each fall and spring semester, connecting College of Media and Entertainment students with leading professionals from across the music and entertainment industries. Each year, more than 50 representatives from record labels, publishing companies, live entertainment, marketing firms, and more come to CME to meet with students, share industry insights, and discuss opportunities for internships and employment. It’s an invaluable chance for students to expand their network, gain career guidance, and take a meaningful step toward their professional goals.

How to Prepare for the Career Fair

To make the most of the Career Fair, students should:

• Update Your Resume: Bring multiple copies of a clean, professional resume that highlights your relevant skills and experience. The Career Development Center offers resume reviews if you need help refining it.
• Research Attending Companies: Review the list of participating companies ahead of time. Know what they do, and prepare a few talking points or questions to show your interest and initiative.
• Practice Your Pitch: Be ready to introduce yourself with a brief, confident summary of who you are, your interests, and what you’re looking for—often called an “elevator pitch.”
• Dress Professionally: First impressions count. Business casual or industry-appropriate attire is recommended.
• Bring Your Curiosity: This is your opportunity to learn. Ask thoughtful questions, be open to unexpected opportunities, and don’t be afraid to follow up with a thank-you email afterward.
• Stay Open-Minded: The connections you make now could open doors later.
